Podcasting 2 - Sharing your audio online

- Have your own blog, or access to a school blog on the eduBuzz.org service (Blogging 1)
- Know how to create a basic podcast in Garageband or Audacity (Podcasting 1)

One-off task
Activating the PodPress plugin
- Log in to your blog. Wait for the Dashboard to appear
- Click on the Plugins menu
- Find the PodPress plugin in the list. Click Activate
Converting Garageband 'm4a' files to mp3s
A task for those using Garageband, but if you use Audacity you can jump to the next stage

Writing a blog post and uploading your audio file
- Click on 'Write'.
- Put in a title and some text to tell people about your podcast
- Halfway down the page, in the Upload section, click 'Browse' next to Upload file.
- Find the audio file or PDF you wish to podcast from your computer drive.
- Click 'Open' or 'OK'
- Give the audio a title and short description
- Click Upload and wait.
- When it is uploaded you will see a blue underlined link to your audio file.
- Right click (or Ctrl click) this blue link. Select 'Copy link location' or 'Copy'.
Adding the audio file as a podcast
- In the 'Podcasting Files' section, click 'Add Media File'
- Click the cursor in the 'Location' field
- Go to the 'Edit' menu and select 'Paste' - this will paste the location of the audio file you uploaded earlier and had copied in step 9, above.
- Give a title to the podcast. This can be the same as before, or different.
- Select the file type from the menu (MP3 for MP3 files, m4a for m4a files, pdf for PDFs, etc...)
- Auto detect the size and duration of podcast.
Publishing the podcast
- Click 'Publish' on the blog post.
- View the site to check that the podcast and player have been successfully uploaded.
