The ICT Team would like to offer all the librarians and teachers in East Lothian Council the opportunity to take part in an exciting day of workshops, learning new skills and honing others.

  • Reading the web: learn new skills and hone others with regards to searching within the web. What can be done beyond the simple Google search to make random search less random?
  • Setting up short-term research sites: learn how to set up a project-specific homepage which changes with every new piece of information published on a certain topic. Create lists of public bookmarks which can be reorganised, reused and slimmed down by the user in a click.
  • Bookmark sharing: how to find sites that other people have bookmarked, explore their favourite links, and share your own
  • Sharing on the web: how can the librarian play a role in gathering students' reviews and views of books they read, sites they visit?
  • Computer games for creative writing, literacy and numeracy: an introduction to some of the most engaging multimedia resources in our schools and kids' pockets.
